Hilary A. Hess-Johnston

Hilary A. Hess-Johnston, Esq. represents policyholders in insurance coverage and bad faith litigation involving a broad range of personal and commercial policies, including general liability, directors and officers, employment practices liability, errors and omissions, umbrella and excess, cyber, homeowners, and automobile policies.

In addition to her coverage practice, Ms. Hess-Johnston advises clients in highly regulated industries, including medical groups and technology services companies, on regulatory risk and compliance. She has extensive experience drafting company policies and building and implementing compliance programs.

Before joining Hess Bower Adams-Hess, PC, Ms. Hess-Johnston served as in-house counsel for a telemedicine dermatology company, managing a broad portfolio of employment counseling, data privacy and security compliance, medical and pharmacy law, commercial contracts, and more. Additionally, she previously practiced at a multinational Vault 100 firm, representing Fortune 500 companies, major pharmaceutical manufacturers, and medical device companies in complex litigation, government investigations, and compliance programs.

Ms. Hess-Johnston earned her B.A. with Highest Honors from the University of California, Berkeley, and her J.D., cum laude, from the University of California, Davis School of Law. At UC Davis, she was elected to the Order of the Coif, received the Witkin Award for Academic Excellence in Evidence, Constitutional Law, Criminal Law, and Native American Law, and served as Senior Notes and Comments Editor of the UC Davis Law Review.
